This tower commemorates victory in a battle fought in the 13th century and a living testimony to the bravery of the great Rajput rulers who laid down their life fighting a superior enemy instead of leading a life of submission.  Inside the staircase is made up of short square flights around a central core.

The Fort is on a 280-hectare site on the top of a 180-metre-high hill, which rises abruptly from the surrounding plain. The entrance of the Chittorgarh has seven massive gates. The main places of interest within the precincts of the fort are the two towers known as the 'Kirti Stambh' (Tower of Fame) and the 'Vijay Stambh' Tower of Victory.

According to often told legend the construction of the fort was started by Bhim a Pandav hero of mythological epic Mahabharata.
